University Profile
Established in 1935, Kursk State Medical University is ranked as one of the top 10 best Russian Medical Universities. Among its many achievements, KSMU was the first University in Russia to offer students a full Medical training program in the English language. Within the structure of KSMU we also have a Research Institute of Ecological Medicine as well as a consulting diagnostic policlinic and medical institute. To date KSMU has trained over 25,000 medical professionals across 14 faculties and 67 departments. The staff body consists of 633 academic staff of which there are 333 Ph.D and 92 D.Sc academics serving our 6,400 students. The university boasts a well stocked library with a subscription of more than 500,000 journals, books and publications. The campus includes four teaching buildings as well as a five student halls of residence. Students also enjoy the recreational facilities onsite including three sports halls and a shooting range.

Lazarenko Victor Anatolievich was born on the 26th of April, 1956, in Sumy. After finishing school, he entered Kursk State Medical University (1973-1979). He graduated from the internship on the specialty `Children’s Surgery’ in Belgorod Regional Children’s Hospital, worked as a children’s surgeon in Shebekino (Belgorod Region).
He was a clinical resident in Hospital Surgery Department (1983-1985), a post-graduate student (from 1985), a teacher (from 1988), the associate professor (from 1992), the professor of Surgical Diseases Department -1 (from 1996). Since 2001 he has been the Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases of the Faculty of Post-Graduate Education.
V. A. Lazarenko is the author of the scientific discovery `Legitimacy of Development of Immunosuppression under energy homeostasis disturbance of the body by the influence of thrombocytes’. He is the author of more than 500 publications (15 monographs) and 30 inventions, under the guidance of V.A. Lazarenko 17 candidate dissertations and 1 doctoral thesis were defended.
He was awarded with different diploma of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, Kursk Regional Duma, the Administration of Kursk Region, the Department of Education and Science of Kursk Region, the Administration of Migration Service. He has some honorary titles (`Excellent Officer of Public Health’, `Honored Physician of the Russian Federation’, 2003). V.A. Lazarenko is the Head of the Senate of KSMU, the Head of the Dissertation Senate in Surgery and Cardiology, Chief-Editor of the journal `Kursk Scientific-Practical journal `Man and Health’, the member of the editorial board of the journal `Clinical and Experimental Surgery’.
He is an operating surgeon of the highest category in Surgery and Cardiovascular Surgery, Academician of Academy of Sciences of the RF. V.A. Lazarenko is the member of the following organizations: Russian Union of Rectors, Board of Rectors of Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities of the RF, Board of Rectors of Universities of Kursk Region, Social-Consultative Council attached to the Department of Federal Migration Service in Kursk Region, Interagency Regional Committee on Social Preventive Work on Offence and against Criminality, Social Council on Moral and Spiritual up-bringing of children and the young in Kursk Region, Chartered Quality Institute, European and Russian Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons and Russian Association of Surgeons-Hepatologists. V.A. Lazarenko was awarded with the special honors of Academy of Medical-Technical Science `Golden Medal by Chizhevsky’, the international prize `Profession is Life’, the special honours ` To Honour, Virtue, Creation and Mercy’ of the Fund `Assembly of Health’. According to the results of All-Russian Quality Organization he was awarded with the diploma of the laureate. V.A. Lazarenko was awarded with the honors `Knight of Science and Art of Russian Academy of Sciences’.
Dr. Pradyuman Kumar Singh (MBBS / MD with honours, Ph.D Hematology and Transfusiology) One of the pioneers to give idea about English Medium Courses for international students in Russia and hence the founder member of faculty of international students in kursk. He was the first Indian student to graduate from Kursk State Medical University in 1997 and received the Red Diploma with Honours.
Dr.P.K.Singh is always inspiration for all of Indian students and also a helping hand to Indians in Kursk. Dr. P.K. Singh and their company have completed successfully 27 years recruiting students from India for studying at KSMU since 1993.
